Human rights

Respect

We support and respect human rights in accordance with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We protect the dignity, fundamental freedoms and human rights of our employees, contractors and the communities in which we live and work and others who are adversely affected by our activities. We ensure that awareness of human rights is embedded in our internal risk analysis processes.

Discrimination

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or physical assault in the workplace, or child, forced or compulsory labor. We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate in our workforce. We respect the rights of our employees and contractors, including freedom of association and collective agreements.

Employees

We expect our employees in all companies, regardless of their location or position, to refrain from supporting human rights violations and to respect the relevant international standards. We provide complaint mechanisms that our stakeholders can access at any time.

Safety

The safety procedures in our mining operations, plants and projects are in line with the voluntary principles on safety and human rights. These procedures are reinforced by risk analysis and incident reporting mechanisms and training for security personnel and contractors.

Relationships

We appreciate the unique relationship between the indigenous peoples and the environment in which they live. We are committed to using engagement processes based on good faith negotiations that are consistent with traditional decision-making processes. Our measures to involve our mining operations are based on the principles of voluntary consent of indigenous peoples based on previous well-founded information recommended by the International Council for Mining and Metals (ICMM).

Impact

We acknowledge that our business operations may impact the communities in which we operate. If necessary, we will restore the livelihood and standard of living of the communities or individuals who have been relocated due to our activities

Partners

When dealing with our business partners, including contractors, suppliers and joint venture partners, we encourage them to respect and adhere to our approach to human rights or a corresponding standard.

Universal Declaration

We strive to act in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration of the International Labor Organization on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (ILO), the Equator Principles and the United Nations (UN) Enterprise and Human Rights Guiding Principles
